A: Yes, PhoneView can access this data in read-only fashion. This data must be managed via iTunes.
Q: Does PhoneView require jailbreak? Does it modify the phone software?
A: No.
Q: Once I copy files to the iPhone using PhoneView's "Disk" mode, can I view/access the files through the phone?
A: There's no way to access these files on the iPhone. We recommend using an App Store app such as Air Sharing and then using PhoneView's "Apps" mode to add files.
Q: I'm getting a message "PhoneView would like access to your contacts." What's that all about?
A: Apple added additional privacy measures to OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). Any app that accesses the Mac's Address Book database will trigger this inquiry the first time it runs. In the case of PhoneView, your contacts will be used to display contact names along with your messages, voicemails and recent calls. Contact data will not be transmitted or shared.
Q: When PhoneView asked me about accessing contacts, I clicked No. I've had a change of heart. How can I change my selection?
A: Privacy settings can be changes in the Security section of System Preferences.
Q: Is PhoneView available in Apple's Mac App Store?A: No. It is available exclusively from Ecamm Network. Apple does not permit applications available in the Mac App Store to access data stored on an iPhone.
Q: Can PhoneView be used to put saved SMS messages back onto an iPhone?
A: No. PhoneView can access and save SMS messages, but it cannot restore them back to an iPhone.
Q: Can I use this with Macs other than the Mac with which the iPhone is set to synchronize?
A: Yes, PhoneView will recognize your iPhone on any Mac that has PhoneView installed and meets the system requirements.
Q: Does PhoneView change system files or do anything that would void the iPhone's warranty?
A: No, PhoneView will store your files in the media section of the iPhone's disk, and will not change the iPhone system.
Q: How come I don't see my voicemails listed in PhoneView?
A: PhoneView's Voicemail mode requires Visual Voicemail, which will allow you to see your voicemail messages listed on the phone's screen rather than having to dial into a special number. If you don't have this feature, it's either not set up or not available from your cellular provider. If you're not sure if you have this feature available, contact your cellular provider for more info.
Q: Can I combine/merge archives from two devices?
A: Yes. Choose Archive->Manage Archives from the File menu at the top of the screen. You'll see all devices listed. Drag the old device into the new device. All archived voicemails, messages and call log items will be copied to the destinatin device. Duplicates will be removed automatically.
Q: PhoneView's using an unfamiliar icon for sent messages in Messages mode. Where's this icon coming from?
A: When an iPhone is connected, PhoneView will get this image from the entry in the iPhone's Contact database containing your iPhone's phone number. If it can't find a corresponding entry in the iPhone's contact list, or if the entry has no photo, it will do the same search in your Mac's Address Book. If there's no phone connected, or if it doesn't find a corresponding photo in your Mac's Address Book, PhoneView will use the photo from your Mac Address Book's "Me" address card. This can be set by selecting an address card and choosing "Make This My Card".
Q: Does the iPhone have disk mode?
A: No. That is why we created PhoneView.

TouchCopy for Windows users.
