Troubleshooting

Problems? Follow these steps before contacting support.

First, please familiarize yourself with the known issues to see if any of them apply to you.

Things to try:

Restart: Many users have reported that restarting their computer has solved many problems. If you run into problems, please try restarting. This tends to resolve some driver issues.

Test Your Cam: Try using another video program such as Video Viewer to make sure your camera is actually working correctly. If you cannot get any other programs to show video from your camera, it is a problem with your camera or driver, and not a problem with iUSBCam.

IMPORTANT: Software that comes with a camera such as QuickCapture is not an acceptable test since it is not "3rd party". Also, the "macam application" is not an acceptable test.

If you can't get your camera to work in Video Viewer, make sure you have installed drivers. Go here to read about getting drivers.

Camera works in the macam application, but doesn't show up in iChat?
Be sure that you installed the macam.component file by dragging it to the "drag component into here!" folder in the macam disk image.

Camera working correctly but still not working with iChat?
Make sure you have the latest version of iUSBCam installed.

Then, try restarting! Then, continue to Technical Support below.

Technical Support

Before submitting support requests, be sure to read this entire page carefully as well as the known issues, information about drivers, and system requirements. If you contact support with a known issue, we can't guarantee a response. This page is updated frequently.

To contact Ecamm Network support for iUSBCam issues, send a message using our contact form. Please include which iUSBCam version you are running, your CPU type, MHz, OS X version, your camera type and driver software information.

Please don't send iUSBCam related issues to Apple, IOXperts, or the macam team. We really don't want to cause them support issues because of this product. Officially, iChat doesn't support anything other than FireWire cameras and requires a G3 > 600 MHz or a G4. Again, if you're using an unsupported camera or system, do not bother Apple about issues.
