Access the
DockStar settings panel by selecting "Preferences..." from Mail.app's "Mail" menu. Then, select DockStar from the toolbar.
Here, you can select a mailbox, a color, a shape, a sound, and other settings for each of the five badges.
Choose a badge to edit: Select a badge number from the Badge menu or just click a badge is the preview to select it.
Choose a mailbox: To select a mailbox, select one your mailboxes from the popup menu. If you have more than one email account configured, then you'll find each account's Inbox can be selected separately.
Select "Total Unread" to see a count of the total number of unread messages in all mailboxes.
It's not just unread count...
With DockStar 2, your badges can show more than just unread counts. Count how many messages are in a mailbox, or count flagged or junk mesages too.
Choose what to count: You can count unread messages, or alternatively, count how many messages are marked flagged or junk. You can also choose to count the total number of messages in a mailbox. When assigned to a To Do mailbox, you can
choose to count completed, uncompleted, or total To Do items.
Include nested folders: Mail lets you nest one mailbox inside another. Use this checkbox to tell DockStar whether or not to include nested folders in its count.
Choose a shape: Change the shape of each badge from the shape menu. Available shapres are a circle, square, star, heart, and Aqua-style lozenge.
Choose a color: To select your desired color, click on the colored square. Use the color picker that appears to choose a color. You can also choose to make a badge transparent by adjusting the Opacity slider.
Choose a sound: Select a sound to play when the badge counts up. You can use the normal system sounds, or bring your own sounds in by selecting "Add/Remove".
Show this badge in menu bar: Select this option to activate menu bar indication for this folder or mailbox. The badge will
appear in your menu bar status area.
Resize: To resize a badge, drag in the preview image, taking the shape from the lower-right corner.
Reset: To reset DockStar to factory settings, click the "Reset..." button.
Menu Bar Badges:
When a badge is activated in your menu bar, you can click on it to go directly to the mailbox being monitored.
Screen Saver: DockStar includes a fun screen saver. Now you see what mail has arrived from across the room!
To access the screen saver, click the "Screen Saver" button. The Screen Savers preferences panel will appear.
